Hi folks,

I wanted to give you a quick update on the launch of the MIT Global Challenge, which happened April 6. Things have been going incredibly well, largely do to the great support from IS&T Server Ops (Nathan!) and DCAD (Lisa!). Props to our developers at Idea Couture also. Anyway, if you haven’t, please register to vote at http://globalchallenge.mit.edu – you can help us provide up to $25,000 to teams of public service innovators representing a truly outstanding range of projects.

Now the numbers:

 * We’re about to hit 10,000 registered users
 * 6100 votes have been cast so far
 * 84 teams are represented in the voting process
 * Team Indian Mobile Initiative leads the pack with 656 votes

I hope you can have a look at this year’s teams, vote for the ones you think demonstrate the greatest innovation, feasibility, and impact – and then join us in Kresge May 2 to find out who the winners of this year’s IDEAS Competition and Global Challenge will be.

And of course, please help us promote this exciting initiative – if you need images, graphics, etc of any kind to do so, let me know. Feel free to rip straight from the site as well.

Thanks!
