SAP workflow deadlines are designed as part of the human interaction. As
such they are typically used to control when a work item is assigned to the
agent and how long the item remains assigned to the agent before the control
of the item returns to workflow.

SAP Deadline Types:
Example: Loan Contract processing, with 14 day cooling off period(Period in
which party to which loan is issued may cancel the contract without
penalties)
Loan Contract must be processed within 30 days from
contract being signed, or new contract must be issued and the process
restarted.

Requested Start
+ 14 days from workflow start
Result: workflow is not assigned to agent for processing until the deadline
is reached

Requested End "Deadline by which the processing of a work item should be
terminated."
+25 days from workflow start
Result: The work item assigned to the agent has been started (In Process)
and is reserved by a single agent. The work item will remain with the agent
until the requested end has expired, or the agent released the work item
back to all agents. Once expired control returns to workflow.

Latest Start "Latest date or time for the recipients of a work item to have
started processing it."
+20 days from workflow start.
Result: The work item has been assigned to the agent in an unstarted state
from the requested start and will remain assigned until the deadline for the
latest start has expired. Once expired control returns to workflow.

Latest End "Point in time for the latest end of processing of a work item."
+30 days from workflow start
Result: The work item has not been completed by the deadline, regardless of
the processing state or who it has been assigned too. This is usually used
to stop the workflow and notify responsible people.

Both Requested End and Latest Start are usually set in a loop where
reminders are sent and the deadline incremented. IE send reminder,
increment reminder by 1 day, return work item to agents.
