[Macpartners] Sheetfed Scanner Recommendations

Hello,

I am looking for recommendations and horror stories about sheetfed,  
duplexing scanners for the Mac.

We routinely receive a large number of applications and other  
materials that in the past have been photocopied many times over and  
sent on to reviewers. While we are in the process of setting things  
to get PDFs from the start of the process, as an interim measure I am  
looking to get a scanner to handle about 6-8000 pages over the course  
of couple-few weeks, 20-25 pages at a time. Direct to text searchable  
PDF is also a very important feature

My current research shows a great many available in the $500-1000  
range, but most seem to be Windows only. The Fujitsu ScanSnap S500M  
looks appealing from GovConnect at  $420.
