[Gsc-anno] Special Announcement: Election Results

1. New GSC Officers for 2004-05:

President: Barun Singh

Barun is a 3rd-year PhD student in the EECS department. Among
his goals for next year are to increase student "inclusion in institute
decision-making", "transparency and communications with student body",
and address graduate student "cost of living".


Vice President: Hector Hernandez

Hector is a 3rd-year PhD student in the Chemistry department. Next year
he hopes to work on "developing interdepartmental communication between
graduate students" and the "development of student leadership groups"
within departments.


Secrectary: Lucy Wong

Lucy is a 2nd-year MArch student in the department of Architecture.
Her plans for next year are to work on "archiving the minutes at meetings",
and "Publicizing and advertising" for the Graduate Student News.


Treasurer: Open.

The nominee for this position was unable to attend the
election meeting.  The representatives voted to postpone electing
a candidate for the position until the next General Council Meeting.



2. Association of Student Activities (ASA) Elections

Time: 6:45pm
Place: 26-100

The ASA is the body responsible for recognizing and assigning office
and bulletin board space to student groups.  The ASA is a great way
for graduate students to get involved in ensuring that the needs
of graduate student groups are addressed.

Eight positions in the ASA Execboard are up for election:
President
Treasurer
Secretary
Undergraduate Member at Large (2x)
Graduate Member at Large (2x)
Student Member at Large (1x)

Please contact the ASA Executive Board with any nominations (of yourself
or others) via <asa-exec at mit.edu>. Nominations are open until a vote is
called, but it is best to have candidates before the meeting. The only
requirement to be part of the ASA Execboard is to be an MIT student
during the 2004-2005 academic year. For descriptions of the positions
