Wind Energy: the Global Status of Wind Energy Technology and the Potential
for Offshore Wind

Abstract
Walt Musial from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden Colorado
will present an overview of the global status of wind energy technology and
the potential for the development of offshore wind energy in the United
States. The presentation will cover the state of the current offshore
technology, research needs to advance the technology, and a vision for the
future of electricity generated from offshore wind turbines.
Bio
Walt Musial is a Senior Engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
in Golden Colorado where he has worked for the past 17 years. He is
currently in charge of offshore wind energy activities at NREL and DOE.
Previously, he worked for five years on the California wind farms. He is a
graduate of the University of Massachusetts where he received his BSME and
MSME.
Bob Thresher is the Director of the National Wind Technology Center at NREL,
and will only be visiting us briefly before catching a plane from Logan.
