AltWheels Alternative Transportation Festival and Symposium
Sat- Sun 17-18 Sept. 05 : Larz Anderson Auto Museum :

Hello All,

Welcome back to campus. Just wanted to let you know, if you're
interested in some
"hands on" sustainable mobility, the LFEE will be co-hosting the
third annual
AltWheels Alternative Transporation Festival at the Larz Anderson
Auto Museum
in Brookline, MA. (http://www.altwheels.org) the weekend after next.

Lawn Show: Both Sat. & Sun there will be alternative vehicles (and
their owners) on
display (please don't feed them). Alternative vehicles - from
CNG buses to Hi-Carb
bicycles, electric vehciles (1914!), vegetable oil fueled cars,
etc. Many, many exhibitors
of vehicles, as well as local environmental and other non-profits
will be there.

Symposium: There will also be numerous panels with experts on
alternative vehicle
technologies, alternative fuels, urban planning and other related topics.
Saturday's panels will focus mostly on technologies, with
Sunday's focusing more
broadly on mobility and bike and shoe friendly cities -- but not
exclusively so for details
on who and when go to... http://www.altwheels.org/panels.html

Getting There, Discounts, etc. Massport has graciously agreed to
shuttle people from
near, and not so near, MBTA stops to the Larz Anderson in their
CNG buses, for those
who'd like to leave their car at home (voluntarily or
involuntarily). Details on this and
admission can be found at... http://www.altwheels.org/altwheels_info.html

Looking for Volunteers! Higher bandwidth involvement (and free
admission of course)
is attainable by volunteering. AltWheels is an all volunteer
organization, so you'll be
in good company directing traffic, helping register people,
searching for lost panelists,
etc. We especially need volunteers for Sunday right now. If
you're intersted, please
    download this form:
http://www.altwheels.org/docs/AltWheels_Volunteer_Signup.doc
and/or contact our volunteer coordinator Colleen at 617-872-5176 or
    camcnerney at hotmail.com

That's it! Hope you had a great Labor Day.

   Steve Connors
