*HASS options for Course 7 students in Art, Culture, and Technology at MIT*

How can ACT help me fulfill my degree requirements?
All undergraduates must take eight HASS courses and designate a concentration to fulfill their general Institute requirements (GIRs). We offer more than twelve HASS-certified subjects, as well as a HASS concentration and a HASS minor.

Are classes “hands-on”?
Yes. Students work in various media including installation, performance,
photography and video. Readings, screenings, lectures by visiting artists,
and field trips compliment classwork. Facilities include a shop, darkroom, sewing room, video editing and sound suites, and a computer lab. http://act.mit.edu/facilities-and-resources/facilities/

Do I need my own equipment?
No. Students enrolled in ACT classes may check out equipment for their
ACT coursework, including cameras, lighting, sound, and video equipment.

What is ACT?
The MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT) is an academic program and research center that facilitates artist-thinkers’ exploration of art’s broad, complex, global history and conjunction with culture, science, technology, and design in media including cinema, video, sound, performance, photography, experimental media and new genres, conceptual and spatial experiments, and writings and publications.
