[WinPartners] SAPgui 6.20 fresh install problem...

Here's a question of my own and rather urgent:

I've got a freshly installed Windows XP Pro SP2 workstation with several brand
new packages (Office 2003 Standard, etc.--I can give a list as necessary) and
no prior install of SAPgui. When I run the current SAPgui 6.20 installer off of
http://web.mit.edu/software/ it begins, but then stops with:

'Previous use of MIT's SAPgui Installer needs
 to be uninstalled:

 Please use Control Panel Add/Remove
 Programs to remove MIT's SAPgui installation.

 [OK]  [Cancel]'

Either way, regardless of whether I OK it or not, the isntaller quits and the
application is uninstalled. But an uninstall reference is created in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\MIT SAPgui 6.20 for
Windows. And C:\Program Files\SAP is created with UNWISE.EXE and
MIT-SAPgui6.20-Win-Install.log in there as the only files.

Uninstall from the Add/Remove Control Panel seems to work and removes the two
files and the app directory, but running it again has the same result.
Rebooting in between, manually removing files and registry keys, etc. have no
effect. I cannot get SAPgui to install.

Any suggestions until I call the Help Desk?
