Are we ready for the Web 3.0?
by Phil Desenne, HarvardX, Harvard University

The Web 3.0 is here. What does it mean to be ready for the Web 3.0? How will the Web 3.0 impact the future of research, teaching and learning from k-12 to higher ed? The Web 3.0, also dubbed the intelligent Web, is about semantic Web technologies, open technologies, open identities, interoperable systems, massive distributed computing, and intelligent applications. But it is also about collective knowledge systems, open collaboration and shared knowledge. It is where the Social Web meets the Semantic Web. This presentation will look at the implications, the benefits, the challenges that academic institutions will be facing as they adapt to the Web 3.0 and the risks of not being prepared for it.
