[WebPub] the admissions blogs turn 10 today!

The admissions blogs were born 10 years ago today. Since the blogs were founded, they've been featured on the front page of the Times<http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/education/02blogs.html>  applications to MIT have almost doubled, and prospective students consistently tell us that the blogs are part of the reason they fell in love with and applied to MIT. We've been very fortunate to have been allowed to start this experiment in student-lead communication a decade ago, and are privileged to continue it today.

We're celebrating with a week long blogparty, with over a dozen blogger alums coming back to post under their old accounts. First up is Ben Jones, VP of Communications at Oberlin, who founded the blogs; some of his posts, particularly 50 Things<http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/50-reflections>  are still read by hundreds of people per day. He started us off w/ 50 Reflections<http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/50-reflections> on his time at MIT (and after).

We'll keep a running index on the homepage (just below the video) of alum posts over the next week, which will culminate in a big post by me on 10 years of blog history and data. If you want to share, we would welcome it; we're using #blogbirthday right now, as well as pushing out to our various channels and lists.
