We recently had a similar issue when printing PDFs on a Mac. Documents looked fine on screen but printed random characters and different fonts. Rebecca Heiser in our IT department found a fix for our Macs here:

Hey 'Pubbers...

Well here I am in my new job, and I meekly raise my hand to you all with a question. I'm working on this section of the MITEI web site:

http://web.mit.edu/mitei/research/studies/nuclear-fuel-cycle.shtml

Visitors using IE (not sure which versions) are reporting problems viewing the "Full Report" PDF linked to from the main navigation. Here's the error message I get when I view it in XP/IE 8:

"Cannot extract the embedded font 'DNMUVK+MinionPro-Regular'. Some characters may not display or print correctly."

Does anyone have a solution to this? I tried optimizing the pdf in Acrobat Pro so that it was compatable in Acrobat 4.0 and later (thanks, Barbara Malec for teaching me this!), but the message still displays.

Thanks in advance!
lisa
