Work Shift:

WEB SPECIALIST, OpenCourseWare (OCW), to identify technical solutions  
to improve the usability and functionality of MIT OCW. This role draws  
from a broad background of problem solving and technical skills to  
evaluate emerging technology, identify new syndication opportunities,  
provide technical assistance and advice to the publication team, and  
ensure all published materials meet established standards. Key  
responsibilities include researching the functionality of new and  
emerging technologies in line with OCW's strategic goals;  
participating in annual usability and accessibility reviews and making  
recommendations to address identified issues; providing training and  
ongoing assistance to the publication team with regard to  
technologies, processes, and OCW publishing guidelines; participating  
in QA testing of content and system enhancements; supporting pilot  
projects to evaluate new publishing tools or processes; and working  
collaboratively on decentralized, multidisciplinary teams.

REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree; a high level of proficiency using  
HTML, CSS, Word, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and content  
management systems; a minimum of two years of relevant work  
experience; a strong desire to develop new and innovative solutions to  
emerging problems; experience documenting and demonstrating publishing  
standards; and excellent oral and written communication skills.  
Consulting or agency experience a plus. Seek service-oriented  
individual with a passion for providing open education materials to  
users around the world, particularly in bandwidth- and technology-
