Hello Undergrads!

Thank you for filling out the SpringFEST Survey and letting us know what type of music you want to hear! We received over 1,500 responses and are working on matching this year’s main artist to your interests within the constraints of our budget.

UA Events receives $125,000 for the purpose of SpringFEST from a portion of the student life fee<http://web.mit.edu/ua/exec/officers/treasurer/slf/dist_14.pdf> under the SAO (the budget got raised this year due to a raise in the student life fee). In addition, the committee also receives a smaller budget for events throughout the year which comes from UA allocations<http://ua.mit.edu/budgets/>. While we try to match your interests, please note that big name artists (Beyonce, the Chainsmokers) cost upwards of a million dollars, not including staging and venue prep. Given this, we have read through all of the write-in artists and are working on finding talent that matches the most popular genres.

Below is a summary of survey results (also attached in a PDF):

General Concert Format

There was a strong preference for the traditional concert format of having a main headliner artist over a festival style featuring multiple artists.
