Subject: [Macgregor] Alumni Speaker Series - D.E. Shaw Research
Hello everyone!
On behalf of the UA Alumni Affairs Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the third (and final) event of our Unconventional Alumni Speaker Series for this semester.
Next Wednesday at 6 PM (Nov. 16) in 32-155 we will have Dr. Rebecca Bish, coming back to campus for a fireside chat focused on her career path and her MIT education. This will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Pizza and drinks will be provided too!
Dr- Bish is a member of the Operations team at D.E. Shaw Research (DESRES). D. E. Shaw Research ("DESRES") is engaged in scientific research in the field of computational biochemistry., Besides the design of novel algorithms and machine architectures for high-speed molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of proteins and other biological macromolecules, the research institute also focuses on the use of long MD simulations to study the structural changes underlying biological phenomena that occur on time scales far in excess of those previously accessible to computational study, with the ultimate aim of significantly advancing the process of drug discovery.
Prior to joining DESRES, she was a Research Scholar at NYU’s Center for Genomics and Systems Biology. She also founded a company that provided scientific editing services to researchers at academic institutions.
