Hi everyone!

*TL;DR DormCon elections are happening, join us and help improve dormitory
life!*

The 2016-2017 DormCon elections will be held on Thursday, April 21st, at
7:30 PM in W20 PDRs 1&2 (on the 3rd floor).

We're electing the following positions:

President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
Housing Chair(s)
Dining Chair(s)
Risk Management Chair(s)
Judicial Committee Chair(s)

For the the unfamiliar, DormCon is the governing body of all dormitory
residents. We on DormCon exec spend our time meeting with administrators,
representing students' concerns and desires, and developing policies that
improve student life at the institute. A few of the issues we'll be
addressing this coming year: renegotiating *the dining plan* contract,
helping design a *new* *dorm*, modifying dormitory* security* policy,
improving the *party registration *process, rebuilding a dormitory *judicial
system*, and ensuring a smooth transition for the new Vice President for
Student Life.

*Descriptions* of each position's duties *are at the bottom* of this email,
(even more official descriptions can be found in Article IV
<http://web.mit.edu/dormcon/docs/constitution.pdf>). *All dormitory
residents* (freshmen, sophomores, and juniors) are eligible to run for all
positions, with the exception of current officers of the UA, IFC, Panhel,
and LGC. For many positions, *no prior experience is required* in student
government.

I encourage you to come and run for something. This is a tremendous
opportunity to affect the lives of those around you and the future of MIT
student life. It's also a lot of fun: the people are great, the problems
are interesting while also close to home, and you'll learn a lot about how
MIT works.

In order to have your candidacy announced before the meeting, you must *email
your platform to the DormCon Secretary* (dormcon-execer at mit.edu
<dormcon-secretary at mit.edu>) no later than *8 PM Tuesday, April 19th*.

If you have any questions about any of these positions, please shoot me an
email or email dormcon-execer at mit.edu.

Together, with your help, we're going to Make the Dormitories Great Again!
Yours, Yonadav Shavit
DormCon President
