We on DormCon exec spend our time meeting with administrators, representing students' concerns and desires, and developing policies that improve student life at the institute. A few of the issues we'll be addressing this coming year: renegotiating <b>the dining plan</b> contract, helping design a <b>new</b> <b>dorm</b>, modifying dormitory<b> security</b> policy, improving the <b>party registration </b>process, rebuilding a dormitory <b>judicial system</b>, and ensuring a smooth transition for the new Vice President for Student Life.</font></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><div><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Descriptions</b> of each position's duties <b>are at the bottom</b> of this email, (even more official descriptions <a href="http://web.mit.edu/dormcon/docs/constitution.pdf" target="_blank">can be found in Article IV</a>). <b>All dormitory residents</b> (freshmen, sophomores, and juniors) are eligible to run for all positions, with the exception of current officers of the UA, IFC, Panhel, and LGC. The president is also responsible for presiding over <b>all DormCon meetings</b>. Lastly, the president is DormCon's <b>chief representative</b> to all external bodies, MIT or otherwise.</font></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><u>Vice President</u></font></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The DormCon Vice President is officially charged with <b>assisting</b> and <b>supplementing</b> the DormCon <b>president</b>, and de facto has <b>many of the same powers and requirements</b> as the president. This includes <b>taking minutes</b> at meetings. This also involves publicizing DormCon events, including sending out reminder emails about meetings. They are responsible for representing both dining- and non-dining <span class="">dorms</span> in discussions related to both house and retail dining. This coming year, they will be the students <b>in charge of renegotiating the dining plan</b>.
