Floyd,

here are my last comments on this. Everybody else please note that this
is the third e-mail Floyd wrote to me, the other two being too long to
be accepted by the list server. If you knew their contents, you´d
understand me being a bit miffed.
And apologies if this is getting on everybody´s nerves.

A few things before I answer Floyd's statements.

Structure is how something is built or constructed, it is what is
underlying the whole thing. Figures are something else. Jake wrote
something about structure of tango, maybe you want to read that:

http://pythia.uoregon.edu/~llynch/Tango-L/2006/msg05359.html

Or here is how the Merrill-Webster Online Dictionary defines structure:
1struc·ture
Pronunciation:
\ˈstrək-chər\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle English, from Latin structura, from structus, past participle of
struere to heap up, build — more at strew
Date:
15th century

that is constructed b: something arranged in a definite pattern of
organization <a rigid totalitarian structure — J. L. Hess> <leaves and
other plant structures>3: manner of construction : makeup <Gothic in
structure>4 a: the arrangement of particles or parts in a substance or
body <soil structure> <molecular structure> b: organization of parts as

some structure to the children's lives>5: the aggregate of elements of
an entity in their relationships to each other <the structure of a
language>

The posting was far too long, so I have divided it into three
parts...more in Part 2
