It's also possible to take the bus (or micro, as they're called in BA)
to Uruguay and it's a lot cheaper than the Buquebus (boat) to Colonia.
There are a number of small towns with hot springs on the
Argentina-Uruguay border such as Paysandu, Salto and Arapey. Bus fare
one-way starts at US$15 or so. All micros leave from the bus
terminal at Retiro.

Another option for getting to Uruguay by boat is the Cacciola ferry.
Unlike the Buquebus which leaves from Buenos Aires, Cacciola departs
from the delta town of Tigre, about 45 minutes away. If you buy your
boat passage on Cacciola, you can sign up for their free bus service
from Buenos Aires to Tigre. The Cacciola arrives in Carmelo, Uruguay.
Last time I looked, the Cacciola was about half the price of the
Buquebus boat.
