Agricultural Biotechnology and Society: African Perspectives

This talk examines the sources of social resistance to agricultural
biotechnology in African countries. It builds on the findings of
"Freedom to Innovate: Biotechnology and Africa's Development"
prepared for the African High-Level Panel on Modern Biotechnology of
the African Union.
Calestous Juma is Professor of the Practice of International
Development and Director of the Science, Technology, and
Globalization Project at Harvard Kennedy School.
This lecture is part of the STS 2009 Spring Colloquia on "Science and
Technology in Africa, Asia, and Beyond."
