can substituite is applicable

Hi Friends,

can we activate the substituite for an agent who already left the
organisation.

in my case the manager is already left the company with out completing his
tasks so if i activate the substituite for this employee would the tasks in
his inbox go to the substituite manager.

can anyone help me if you have idea?
