Items in Work List not dropping off

Hello All,
I have a problem with the Work Items in the Work List ,
The completed tasks remain in the Work list of the User and never drop off.
Can this be helped out.
I am using SRM 5.0 and EP 7.0
Please give me valuable information regarding this.
