Sort on amounts in dynamic column in inbox

Dear all,

In the inbox we have a dynamic column with an amount. Users like to sort 
on this column, but unfortunately it sorts like a character based field, 
giving amount 451 before 50 and 60000.
Does any one know a way to get this field sort as a value based field?
