How long we should keep an event trace

Hi,
 
Since we frequently update our workflows, we have kept the event trace
'ON' in our production system for traceability.
 
However that filled SWELOG to an enormous size and we need to create a
job to periodically delete the trace. How long should one keep an event
trace in a production environment?? 
 
30 60 or 90 days?? I know there is no standard but still any suggestions
!!!
