Event Linkage deactivated

Hi All,
I have a workflow that when the event triggers the event linkage deactivates but I cannot see why.
I the event binding I have the WF Initiator and the relevant business object bound in the event yet I get this error.
SWE_EVENT_RECEIVER_ERROR - Linkage deactivated

Can anyone offer any suggeations as to what might be the problem ?
