4.6C Workflow implementation for PO release strategy via Lotus Notes

Hi All,
 
Please share your experience or give ideas or suggestions for the above.
 
Looking at using
(1) notification method where user executes an attachment to be taken to a
portal or Business Workplace for SAP GUI for action or
(2) Use Workflow for Lotus notes through a connector (Chorus/Domino/etc.)
 
In option-1 how to guarantee the delivery of email notification sent ?
