Rule using function module SWX_GET_MANAGER

I am using the rule 00000168 which takes a user and finds his or her
manager.
using the function module SWX_GET_MANAGER.  This workflow is a 2 step
approval process and I need to find not only the initiator manager but his
managers
manager. So I need to pass the first manager back to the workflow before
going to the
next approval step. Can anyone tell me if this is possible ?
