Work Item Title & Description - Values found in title but not in Description.

Hi All
We are using CRM 3.1 and I have a workflow with a work item that displays
the creation time and date of a record.
In the work item title i have &CREATIONDATE& and &CREATIONTIME& and the
creation date and time is displayed in the title e.g. I get
01.10.2003 14:20:38
In the Work Item description I have the same values  &CREATIONDATE& and
&CREATIONTIME& but in the work item text that appears in the users in box I
get
01.10.2003 < CREATIONTIME not found>
 
I am baffled by this as the binding is correct hence the values displaying
in the title but not in the WI description.
 
Can anyone help/offer suggestions ?
