Restricting the Org structure / Position / User at the task level

Hello All,
 
We have single Org structure at the company level for all applications.
Is it possible to restrict the user to see only the relevant position / Org
structure for which he is assigned to ?. When the user selects the drop down
list he looks at the whole Org, structure only to get confused about
navigation. This happens even if though I assigned specific tasks at the
position level.
Any information is appreciated.
