SAP MAPI and substitution under 4.6C

Hi Phil,

The SAP MAPI and the substitution are working if I use PO13 for =
definition.=20

If I use PPSM transaction to define substitution I have problems.
In this case I have to use the "Adopt substitution" menu item in the =
Inbox
of the user who substitutes the "original position",=20
as I have written in my original letter.
Every open of the workflow inbox there is an additional windows to =
select
which inbox will be displayed the original one or the substituted one.
Probably this additional interaction prevents the MAPI usage, I don't =
know?!

I can imagine that there is another solution for PPSM transaction also, =
but
I did not find it.

Best Regards:

Hi =C1rp=E1d

Are you still getting the error message when using centrally managed
substitution (i.e. position substitution via PPSM or PO13) with =
SAPMAPI?=20

If that is the case, they you definitely should not because the MAPI
should deal with the option of adopting the substitution. I would =
report it=20
to OSS.

Even if you do get the error, you should be able to work-around it by =
having
the
the central administrator activate the substitution. Then it becomes
like auto-forwarding, and the substitute will see a mixture of his and
the substituted users workitems. However, sometimes there is a problem =
with=20
activation still needing adoption for position substitutes (see OSS =
note
485342).

Peter: A user can perform both personal and position substitution, and =
it
does not
matter to what the workflow is assigned. If you want to control to who =
has
what
workitem substituted, you have to use substitution profiles. The =
important
difference with position substitution is that it is only substitution =
that
can be
performed centrally.

regards to all

Phil

Hello Peter,

In my opinion basically there are two types of Workflow substitutions:
=B7 Central managed (at the HR department of the "factory" with =
PO13)
=B7 Distributed management (the person manages his substitution =
himself
with forwarding for example)

Most of our environments the distributed substitution management is not
acceptable.=20
This is mostly organizational question.=20
If we would like to monitor for example an approval workflow process =
the
forwarding substitution
cannot be so easily followed as the centrally managed substitution!=20
That is why I prefer the centrally managed substitution,
and if we use PO13 or (other transaction under SAP 4.0B) we prefer =
the
usage of position.

Hello Tomasz and =C1rp=E1d,

Forgive my basic question, but my understanding is that their are two =
types
of substitution - user and position. User substitution can only be set =
up
by the users for themselves using SBWP. Position substitution can only =
be
set up by HR (or someone authorized for transactions like PO13)?

Is this the case? If so, is the effect the same? Or does position
substitution only affect workitems that are assigned to a position and =
not
to user id's directly?

(Sorry to all if it seems that I keep replying to questions on this =
list by
asking more questions!)

 Hello Tomas,

Many thanks, my aim was to use the method which is proposed
PO13 transaction, but i did not find it. I have used the
substitution under SAP 4.0, but the transaction code is changed...

  Regards and thanks

Arpad,

Am not familiar with transaction PPSM but assuming it does
the same thing as Inbox settings or PO13.

Yes, relationship A 210 will work correctly. Both agents
receive the work item and therefore the MAPI works. No
adoption is necessary. Which object type are you using (US
or S)? The 210 association is for position to user (user to
user will not work). Can be done with Inbox settings or
PO13

For user to user (personal substitution) the adoption is not
necessary either. Just maintain substitution and then
activate substitution from Inbox settings.

Hello Workflowers!

We are under SAP 4.6 C and we use substitution and MAPI
also.

We define the substitution using PPSM transaction. After the
definition the
user - who substitutes the "original" workflow position -
has to adopt the
substitution first.

SBWP-> Workflow setting -> Adopt substitution

If the user opens his Workflow inbox (having an active
substitution) the
very first step is a "new windows" asking for the inbox
specification.
The user has a choice to display:
*       Own workflow inbox
* Inbox of the user who is substituted.

At case of SAP MAPI usage this substitution can't be
managed. The user gets
an error message and no facilities to see his inbox trough
MAPI.

Question:

If I working under SAP 4.6 C, and I use PD substitution A
210 PPSM
transaction then is there any solution to use MAPI ?

Waiting for your answer,

  Best regards:

   Arpad
