SO 520 error when subscribing/unsubscribing to dist lists

I've looked at SAP notes and in the archive but I cannot find anything about
this.  Whenever I subscribe/unsubscribe to a distribution list via tran SO15
I get error message SO 520 ("Error during background processing: JOB_CLOSE,
return code: 5").  The subscription/unsubscription works successfully. We're
on 4.0B (hot package 48) and using distribution lists with workflow.  Any
ideas?
