Changing deadlines

In my experience to change the deadline of a work item you always have to
change the date for the system to realize that you have made a change.  If
you just want to change the time then change the date and then change it
back again.  I know this sounds odd but it has worked for me.

Wondering if anyone else has run into a problem changing deadlines on work
items in 4.6C?
 
Initially, I ran into a lot of authorization issues.  They were all
resolved.  Now, when I go into change the work item deadline, I can enter
the changed time and press save.  I do not receive any error messages.
However, the deadline reverts to the earlier value!  I check SU53 and there
were no authorization errors.   If I look at the log, I can see entries that
the deadline was changed, but it hasn't been changed!
 
There do not appear to be any OSS notes on this issue.
 
Any help would be much appreciated!
