SAP Enterprise Buyer 2.0 vs EBD 2.0

Hi Athar,
No, they aren't quite the same under the covers - but there has been and
continues to be a lot of work to ensure similar features are
offered in a similar way.

EBD is a lighter product - where you don't want or need to do too much
integration. It will connect to R/3 or non-SAP systems.

EBP is a deeper product - if you are already running R/3, particularly if
you are already running MM, EBP is likely to be the most suitable for you.
Basically EBD is focussed on procurement only and essentially indirect
procurement at that.
EBP goes deeper and wider - for instance:
- direct procurement, including connection with APO (Advanced Planner and
Optimizer),
- creation of reservations not just requisitions/orders,
- greater flexibility in the workflow environment (because you have full SAP
Business Workflow in it),
- creation of goods receipts, service entry sheets, invoices - and these can
be created by employees, warehouse staff, or suppliers/service providers
- full integration into your R/3 FI or R/3 FI+MM system
- ability to connect to multiple backends for both financial and logistics
integration, including non-SAP systems
- ability to run standalone
- etc. etc.

Both have procurement functionality, auctioning/reverse auctioning
functionality, etc.

If you want to see comparisons of what is offered and why have a look at the
sapmarkets site - http:// <http://www.sapmarkets.com/eb>
www.sapmarkets.com/eb <http://www.sapmarkets.com> .
You'll also find a link from SAPNET - http://sapnet.sap.com/eb
<http://sapnet.sap.com/eb> .

And thanks for the kind comments - we aim to please. For myself, I look
forward to looking at what's happening on SAP-WUG, it gives a real feel for
how people are using workflow to creatively solve business problems.

Subject: SAP Enterprise Buyer 2.0 vs EBD 2.0

Dear fellows,

Each day go pass-by and I get amazed at the wealth of knowledge we have
across the globe and neat stuff that you folks are doing out there to
improve the business processes. Also, I can not resist saying that I am
really impressed by Jacelyn Dart's knowledge in her area of expertise. Each
day she keeps amazing me with all the solutions/help she keeps providing
across the globe; highly appreciated Jacelyn. Keep up the good work!!!

We are on 4.5B and have been Sapping since 1996. I am in a process to decide
if we should go with EBD 2.0 or SAP Enterprise Buyer 2.0
(desktop/professional). Can some one point me to documentation which would
help me to decide/learn more about the 2 products (especially the comparison
of the 2). I do understand that that under the covers they are one and the
same products, is that really true. Why should I go with one and not the
other? Can some one shed light on this for me please. Thanks.
