Workflow development standards

Does anyone have a document which suggests standards (a.k.a. best =
practices I guess) one should follow when developing work flows? Here I am =
referring to things such as:-
 
- process flow definitions
- organization structures
- functional specifications
- technical specifications=20
- etc
 
Your assistance would be most gratefully appreciated.
