Getting missing work items to position under org unit

Hi Brad,
Think I understand all that.
You need 2 new work items, one for each new position.
I can't think of a way to achieve that in 4.0B other than perhaps cancel the
workflow instance and
restart it manually using the same data. But of course that depends on how
far into the process
you are, and whether you can redo any processing prior to the affected step
safely.
Regards,
Jocelyn

Jocelyn,
Thanks for the response. After some research maybe I can give you some more
info. The step is dialog work items to positions using a custom role
resolution. The custom role resolution is using the agent workflow
container which was created (and completed in a prior step) and it doesn't
contain the 2 missing positions. So I can see the current work items
waiting to be processed but I don't see an "upper-level" work item for these
in which I can change the agents and dynamically create 2 new work items to
the 2 positions originally excluded (changing the agents for the current
work items won't do me any good since a work item is sent to each position).
Any other suggestions? Hopefully I haven't been too confusing...

Hi Brad,
You should be able to go to the workitem e.g. via transaction SWI1, go to
the "technical work item display",
and use the "change container" option to add your extra positions provided
the workitems have not yet been
completed.
That will fix the container, however if workitems have already been
distributed to agents, it will not make the
workitems appear in the new users inboxes. There is a change agents
function module that you can
use to add additional agents. I don't think that's a WAPI function in 4.0B
so look at the function modules
in function group SWWA instead (these are safe enough to use in 4.0B).

Subject: Getting missing work items to position under org unit

We have an org unit under which 2 new positions were added with 1 holder
each on 10/19/2001. All positions are created by referencing a job, and we
attach our customer tasks at the job level. The work items were sent to
each org unit position (including these 2 new positions) on 11/30/2001.
Unfortunately, a mistake was made and the customer task was not assigned to
the jobs which describe these 2 new positions until 12/3/2001. So there are
no work items for the users under these 2 new positions. A previous step
populated the workflow container with the positions of the org unit, and
when I look at this current step the workflow container has all of the org
unit positions except for these 2 new positions. Is there any way to
dynamically change a workflow container in process by adding these 2 new
positions, or is one of those instances the users are just going to have to
live with the error? BTW, we're on 4.0B.

Thanks,
Brad
