Field Authorization within Tran

I've got a workitem being sent to users which calls a SAP tran to change a
Engineering Change Request (ECR).  They're being asked to update a field on
the ECR; however, they also have the ability to update other fields which I
don't want them to touch.  I can put an authorization group on the ECR, but
this only controls access at the object level.  I want to control access at
the field level.  Any suggestions?
