Sending External Mail

We use Novell GroupWise for our e-mail service, I have found that the SAP MAPI is not compatible and the best use I could have of GroupWise in respect of SAP Workflow is to send a text message advising that there is a work item in the SAP Inbox.
 
Does anyone have advise on how to send external mail from GroupWise? I have obtained the authorisation, however I now get a message: "No connection to Unix mail server"
 
What do I do next?
