Dear Colleague,

At the last collaboration meeting it was agreed that communication within the various OLYMPUS groups should be done using the mailing lists so that interested people can subscribe to these lists and that we maintain a record of the messages.

	The current mailing lists are:

	• olympus - general mailing list for the OLYMPUS Experiment
	• olympus-target - target and vacuum systems
	• olympus-wc - wire chamber detector systems
	• olympus-gem - GEM tracker upgrade
	• olympus-tof - time of flight detector systems
	• olympus-lumi - luminosity monitor systems (both GEM and MWPC)
	• olympus-moeller - symmetric Moeller detector systems
	• olympus-trigger - trigger system
	• olympus-daq - data acquisition
	• olympus-mc - Monte Carlo
	• olympus-offline - offline analysis
	• olympus-testrun - Test Runs
	• olympus-leaders - group leaders only to discuss organisational issues (NOTE not everyone can join this list)

Collaboration members wishing to join any of these lists should go to the OLYMPUS mailing list page

http://web.mit.edu/OLYMPUS/Mailing.html

and click on the link for each list they wish to join. You will be directed to a web page and asked for the E-mail address you wish to use for this mailing list. You can also specify a password here or one will be generated and sent to you.

You must be a member of a list to send messages to that list and you must send messages from the E-mail account you specify. You will receive messages sent to the list at the E-mail address you specify as well.

Messages are archived and can be viewed at anytime through the web interface but to do this you must enter your password.

Attachments to messages sent to the list are "scrubbed" which means the attachment is removed, stored on the mail server, and a URL to the attachment is included in the message. This saves sending multiple copies of attachments and having ot store them locally. Attachments are also archived and can be viewed at any time.

Information on the MIT mailing list server, MAILMAN, can be found on the OLYMPUS Mailing List web page too.

Note when replying to an message from the list that it will go to the entire list.

                                                    Cheers,
                                                            Douglas
