[Macpartners] Mac client, cloud server file problem

I think we could probably use some more information,
like whether this is an SMB server or an AFP server
and what software it is running.

Why do the files "need to be deleted"? Is this a space issue or
a security issue? It seems a kind of peculiar workflow.

It dosn't really make sense that you should be able to "move" (copy)
files to a desktop to delete them -- with the Finder?. The moving
process should invoke the same deletion operation on the server.

When deletion from the terminal works, dose that mean running 'rm'
on the server, or running 'rm' locally on a client (e.g. your
desktop)? And do you know if it really works, or just looks
like it is working? [e.g., does free space on the server change? ]

If deletion from the Terminal works, then you could switch to a workflow
where users drag files to be deleted on the server into another folder
on the server which is periodically deleted from the Terminal, or
via script. Say hourly, or nightly, or whatever.

But it seems like there is something peculiar about this workflow
and knowing more information would help give better advice.
