[Macpartners] MBP won't shutdown - install tips?

Aran,
I would boot off a known good operating system to check to see if you have a hardware issue. You can do this by installing a compatible Macintosh operating system on your USB drive using another machine ,and booting off of that. At the very least I would perform a low level format of the computers hard drive to check for disk issues. The fact that you cannot perform a clean install usually rules out software, but you might want to try and external optical drive or other installation method just to be safe.
