[Macpartners] Thunderbird attachment drag-to-desktop?

On my Mac Tiger with the latest Thunderbird for reading email, any attachments I
drag to desktop refuse to save to the desktop, and instead go to my home
directory.

I can select Save As and it will save to the desired location, and I can
double-click and it will save to the desktop, but I simply click on the
attachment and drag, it defaults to my home directory.

Am I missing something, or is this a bug (aka feature?)
