[Macpartners] Help with Office 2004 and firewall/proxy error

After having installed Firefox on my G3 running Tiger and Office 2004 (OS and
Office fully patched), and I put a URL into an Office document (Word or Excel,
or example), when I then try to select the URL the Office apps gives me "Unable
to open http://where_ever.  Cannot locate the Internet server or proxy server."

The proxy is set up correctly.   Calling up Safari and/or Firefox and copy/paste
of the URL into either browser gets me there fine.

It is a problem with Office and it seems with the newest rev of Firefox (at
least its installation).   Under Mozilla, things worked just fine.

I've checked the proxy settings and everything is fine.

Google (www and groups) show mostly Windows hits, and Microsoft has a
knowledgebase article about this, but for Windows.

What am I missing?   Or, is there no fix?
