Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce support for
accessing MIT e-mail via PalmOS-based mobile devices such as personal
digital assistants (pda) and cell phone/pda combos using VersaMail by
palmOne, Inc., and SnapperMail by Snapperfish, LTD.
This new support, paired with existing support for TechTime calendar
connection using Oracle Calendar Sync, expands service to our PalmOS
clients. IS&T is working to meet the needs of the community and expand the
use of mobile devices, applications and carriers
Testing Results
The Mobile Device Release Team has tested the following devices with
VersaMail, SnapperMail and Oracle Calendar Sync. Other devices may work
with the applications but have not been tested by the release team.
* Palm Tungsten C
* Palm Tungsten T3 with Wi-Fi SD Card
* Palm Tungsten T5 with Wi-Fi SD card
* Palm Zire 72 with Wi-Fi SD card
* Verizon Treo 600
* Sprint Treo 650
E-mail Application compatibility
* VersaMail: We support three versions of VersaMail, and it varies by
device. The Palm Zire 72 (included) and the Treo 600 (separate purchase)
use version 2.7; the Tungsten T5 (included) uses version 2.7.1; and the
Treo 650 (included) uses version 3.0.
* SnapperMail works on any device using PalmOS 3.5 or higher. The
Tungsten C can use only SnapperMail 2.1
How to Obtain Applications
Depending upon which device you have, VersaMail may already be installed or
available on a supplemental CD. You can also purchase it directly from
palmOne, Inc. SnapperMail is available at an MIT discounted price when
redirected through the IS&T SnapperMail support pages. Oracle Calendar
Sync is available from the software download pages.
