Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce
support for accessing MIT e-mail via PalmOS-based mobile devices such as
personal digital assistants (pda) and cell phone/pda combos using
VersaMail by palmOne, Inc., and SnapperMail by Snapperfish, LTD.

This new support, paired with existing support for TechTime calendar
connection using Oracle Calendar Sync, expands service to our PalmOS
clients. IS&T is working to meet the needs of the community and
expand the use of mobile devices, applications and carriers<br><br>
<b>Testing Results <br><br>
</b>The Mobile Device Release Team has tested the following devices with
VersaMail, SnapperMail and Oracle Calendar Sync. Other devices may work
with the applications but have not been tested by the release team.

<li>Palm Tungsten T3 with Wi-Fi SD Card
<li>Palm Tungsten T5 with Wi-Fi SD card
<li>Palm Zire 72 with Wi-Fi SD card
<li>Verizon Treo 600
<li>Sprint Treo 650

<b>E-mail Application compatibility</b>
<ul>
<li>VersaMail: We support three versions of VersaMail, and it varies by
device. The Palm Zire 72 (included) and the Treo 600 (separate
purchase) use version 2.7; the Tungsten T5 (included) uses version 2.7.1;
and the Treo 650 (included) uses version 3.0.
<li>SnapperMail works on any device using PalmOS 3.5 or higher. The
Tungsten C can use only SnapperMail 2.1

How to Obtain Applications<br><br>
</b>Depending upon which device you have, VersaMail may already be
installed or available on a supplemental CD. You can also purchase
it directly from palmOne, Inc. SnapperMail is available at an
MIT discounted price when redirected through the IS&T SnapperMail
support pages. Oracle Calendar Sync is available from the software
download pages. <br><br>

If you need assistance configuring or troubleshooting email or TechTime
synchronization on a PalmOS device, you may contact the Help Desk at
computing-help@mit.edu or by calling x3-1101 between 8am and 6pm Monday
through Friday. The Help Desk will work closely with other teams in
IS&T to meet the PalmOS support needs of the MIT Community.<br><br>
<b>Configuration Clinics in February<br><br>
</b>During the month of February, we will be holding configuration
clinics to assist you in setting up your PalmOS devices for e-mail
and TechTime. The sessions will be in the N42 Demo Center from

<b>Palm OS Cell Phone Vendors Visit*<br><br>
</b>Please Join us February 10 in N42 from 11AM to 1:30PM, when cell
phone vendors Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless will
showcase their Palm OS PDA mobile devices. You will have the
opportunity to see their products and get information about discounts and
