Two Open-Rank Faculty Positions in Supply Chain Management

The Department of Global Supply Chain Management at Wayne State University's Mike Ilitch School of Business is seeking to fill two Tenure-Track/Tenured faculty positions for Fall 2024. Candidates will be expected to conduct research suitable for publications in top-tier journals, teach courses in areas of interest at the undergraduate and graduate level, participate in department and school activities, and perform related duties as assigned. We expect the candidate to be a fully engaged participant in the life of the Mike Ilitch School of Business. The typical teaching load is 2+2, teaching students majoring in global supply chain management (SCM). Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. or A.B.D. in Supply Chain Management or a related field from an AACSB-accredited business school. Applicants with A.B.D. will be hired as Instructors until the completion of all doctoral degree requirements. The ideal candidate needs to

  *   provide evidence of potential to publish in top academic journals;
  *   have interest and experience in teaching courses related to procurement, purchasing of high-tech goods, services and software, logistics, production planning, advanced manufacturing/supply chain technologies, quality, or supply chain analytics;
  *   have interest or experience in the automotive and other complex manufacturing industries.

The Global Supply Chain Management programs focus on automotive and other complex manufacturing industries, which are high-tech and global. The department offers an undergraduate program, an MBA concentration in Global SCM and another in Healthcare SCM, an MS in Automotive SCM, and two automotive industry-related SCM executive education programs. There are currently 11 full-time SCM faculty including 8 tenure-track/tenured faculty and 3 teaching faculty. The SCM Department offers study abroad programs in multiple countries and hosts an international case competition funded by the automotive industry. The undergraduate SCM program has been ranked top 25 by Gartner since 2018, and the department’s research productivity is ranked in the top 10% of all schools in the empirical section of The SCM Journal List. The department has two active advisory boards, and strong relationships with industry and professional organizations, which greatly helps faculty members in their research.
