The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is seeking applications and
nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Operational Sciences.
The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in Operations
Research, Logistics, or closely related field with credentials commensurate
with those of the rank of Full Professor. Candidates should exhibit a strong
publication record, significant experience in obtaining external research
funding, and sound academic and professional leadership abilities. Government
and/or military experience is beneficial but not required for the position.
United States citizenship is required for the position.
The Department of Operational Sciences is one of six departments in the Graduate
School of Engineering and Management. It is responsible for M.S. and Ph.D.
programs in operations research, and for M.S. programs in logistics management.
The department has a strong record of publication and externally funded research
with particular emphasis on defense-related issues. There are 20 fulltime
faculty, and 5 staff and administrative personnel serving an enrollment of
nearly 200 graduate students. For more information about the department, please

AFIT is the graduate school of the United States Air Force and is both a federal
and fully-accredited academic institution located at Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base (WPAFB) near Dayton, Ohio. The Institute provides defense-focused graduate
education primarily for DoD personnel (military officers, enlisted, and
civilians) but also enrolls international officers and non-DoD civilian
students.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and the position is
tenured with the rank of Professor. To apply for the position, applicants
