The MIT Lindy Hop Society hosts a

** BLUES DANCE WORKSHOP **
with Mihai Banulescu from San Francisco
Saturday, December 8, 12pm-6pm
MIT Student Center, room 407
Registration: $55 at door

Class descriptions (keeping in mind that no battle plan
survives contact with the enemy):

12-1:30 Movement and Connection

I will focus this class on the concepts of relaxation and
strength and apply them to posture, movement and connection.
This class will move fast and be very concrete. I would
really like everyone to take this class because it will
prepare them for the rest of the workshop (and provide a lot
of value even to intermediate/advanced dancers).

2:30-4 Vocabulary and Contrast

In a past workshop, I had the theme "it ain't what you do,
it's the way that you do it." I find patterns in and of
themselves pretty boring, but I do get very excited about
changing up the patterns: smooth/sharp, slow/fast,
big/small, etc. This is "easy creativity," a way to make
your dance interesting while still safely thinking inside
the box.

4:30-6:00 Creativity and Musicality

With a foundation of technique and vocabulary already built,
we will now go outside the box to create the kind of blues
dancing that I love: playful, expressive, musical and
intense. There will definitely be some
dancing-outside-the-box exercises, like threesome dancing
and storytelling.

The workshop will be followed by a house party hosted by
John Brooks, at 35 Warren Ave Waltham, MA, 9pm-2:30am.

Also, as part of this Blues-a-licious weekend, Gui, Jenn,
Laura, et al., host a Blues Party this evening (Friday,
December 7) at their house: 17 Harvard St, #1, Somerville,
10pm.
