*"Intergroup conflict examined through the lens of experimental
psychology"*- Lecture with Emile Bruneau
Emile Bruneau is a Post Doc at the Saxelab at MIT. Dr. Bruneau is trying to
better understand the role of psychology in group identity. In this talk, he
will discuss some of the results from studies that he has conducted with
Palestinians and Israelis in the Middle East, and in other regions of
conflict. Gazing at the conflict through a scientific lens, Dr. Bruneau will
address some of the psychological forces at play in the context of
intergroup conflict, and how issues of identity, dominance and power may
shape these forces.

Tuesday April 26, 2011
*6:30pm - 8:30pm in Room 4-145*
*"Taking a Stand: a historical review of the conflict and the current joint
struggle against the separation wall"* - A talk with Elinor Amit and Noam
Lekach
Elinor, a postdoctoral fellow at the psychology department at Harvard
University and a human rights activist, gives us a historical review and
analysis of the conflict.
And Noam, an Israeli currently begining his BA at Brandeis Univeristy, where
he is a member of the Brandeis Students for Justice in Palestine group.
Noam will speak about the joint struggle of Palestinians and Israelis
against the separation wall and about the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions
Movement from his perspective as a member of the Israeli group Boycott from
Within (http://boycottisrael.info/). Noam is also a member of the group
Anarchists Against the Wall (www.awalls.org).

Thursday April 28, 2011
*7pm - 9pm in Room 4-237*
Screening of* "With God On Our Side"* (http://withgodonourside.com/), which
takes a look at the theology of Christian Zionism, and its aspects that lead
some Christians in the West to give uncritical support to Israeli government
policies, even those that privilege Jews at the expense of Palestinians,
leading to a great suffering among Muslim and Christian Palestinians alike
and threatening the security of Israel. This film demonstrates that there is
a biblical alternative for Christians who want to love and support the
people of Israel, a theology that doesn't favor one people group over
another but instead promotes peace and reconciliation for both Jews and
Palestinians.

*Refreshments and snacks will be provided at these events.*
