we provide a bi-diretional gateway; however, in order for a posting to
make it to the mailing list it needs to contain particular keywords in
the body of the post. this is mean to cut down on spam that might be
gatewayed. according to the logs, some posts have been gatewayed to
the mailing list recently -- for example:

syslog:Jan 16 04:07:26 ra.nrl.navy.mil news2mail[4535]: @02003E26764E458300000000000000000000@ kerberos at MIT.EDU
syslog:Jan 16 04:07:26 ra.nrl.navy.mil news2mail[4535]: adding 3E2675F0.8080604 at nospam_hotmail.com to /usr/news/tmp/mailpost-msgid
syslog:Jan 16 04:07:26 ra.nrl.navy.mil news2mail[4535]: postok = 1
syslog:Jan 16 04:07:26 ra.nrl.navy.mil news2mail[4535]: |/usr/lib/sendmail -oi -oem -ee '-f<news>' -odq kerberos at MIT.EDU
syslog:Jan 16 04:07:27 ra.nrl.navy.mil news2mail[4535]: @02003E26764E458300000000000000000000@ forwarded to kerberos at MIT.EDU

i guess news2mail to could check to see if an article is part of a thread
from a previously validated posting.
