*GSC June General Council Meeting*
The GSC June General Council Meeting will take place on Wednesday, June
7, 5:00-7:00 pm in the GSC office (50-220). The GSC budget for 2006-2007
will be presented at this meeting. Dinner will be served.
Become a GSC representative! As a voting member of the GSC General
Council, you will bring the concerns of your group to the attention of
the GSC and its committees. You also report back to them on the
activities of the GSC and other Institute-wide issues that affect them.

Do you want to be involved in the GSC? Well, there are still a couple of
exciting and high-profile positions open for the 2006-2007 year!
ARC Co-Chair - take charge of new projects such as the GSC Travel
Grant program; organize lecture series, seminars, and programs related
to Academics, Research, and Careers.

GSN Staff - if you'd already joined the Graduate Student News, you

**ARC seminar "Why Choose an Academic Career?"**
Have you ever wondered about what to do after MIT? Have you ever
considered an academic career? Come to the series of lectures that
explore this topic.
The first seminar in the series "Why Choose an Academic Career?" will
take place on Wednesday, June 7, 4:00-5:15pm in 10-250. Speakers include
Prof. Rebecca Christianson (Applied Physics, Olin College)
Prof. Daniel Hastings (Aero/Astro and Engineering Systems, MIT)
Prof. Nancy Kanwisher (Brain and Cognitive Sciences, MIT)
Prof. Bishwapriya Sanyal (Urban Development and Planning, MIT)
Refreshments will be provided.
The other seminars in the series will take place over the summer:
