*GSC vacancies*
Do you want to be involved in the GSC? Well, there are still a couple of
exciting and high-profile positions open for the 2006-2007 year!
ARC co-chair: The Academics, Research and Careers (ARC) committee is
looking for a co-chair. The ARC committee is responsible for developing
and running programs, including the career fair, the professional
development series, and mentorship programs, aimed at creating a better
academic environment for students at MIT. The ARC committee includes a
number of project chairs, each of whom work with the committee chairs to
organize a particular event or initiative, as well as a large number of
volunteers.

GSN Editor-in-Chief: The Graduate Studemt News (GSN) is the monthly
newsletter dedicated to publishing news, opinions, and advocacy
information related to graduate students at MIT. The GSN is the only MIT
publication which is published by MIT graduate students for MIT graduate
students. It is one of many avenues which connect the graduate student
body and the Graduate Student Council. The GSN also includes sections on
GSC events, GSC programs, departmental news, and how to best make use of
the Institute's resources.

*Stress-relieving exercise classes*
EECS GSA Summer Series! Stress-Relieving Exercise for ALL Grad
Students! Ten Tuesday evening classes, from 6:15 to 7:30 PM in 34-401,
June 6 to Aug. 28, with no classes on July 4th and one other date in
July. Cost: $50 for all ten sessions (a steal; worth doing even if
you'll be away for a few!).
Register with Anne Hunter (anneh at mit.edu) by May 29th, first come first
served. Drop off a check in 38-476. Limited to 30.
Learn about Tai Chi, Ch'i Kung and Kung Fu. Get some rejuvenating
exercise and stretches, just right for tense Course VI grad students.
Warm up and enhance your circulation "oiling the joints", then learn to
"repulse the monkey" and "wave hands like clouds". See the graceful and
ancient fan form and "junior long fist" from Kung Fu. Cool down with
some Korean Ch'i Kung. You don't need to be in good shape or believe in
the Chi to enjoy these moves. Wear comfortable clothes and athletic
shoes. Instructor is Dorri Li, who teaches at MIT Health Education and
Wellness, and has over 30 years of martial arts experience.
Sponsored by the EECS Graduate Student Association
